‘new heirlooms’ uses vintage ceramic pieces collected in charity shops in the UK and Denmark .
Rejuvenating discarded objects with new patterns, and creating a collection of one off pieces, the story of these objects is continued, added to, highlighting the work of the charities involved, as well as creating links with our past, rekindling old memories and creating new ones.
The starting point for this collection was a residency in Denmark, working with hand cut transfers, and obsessed by process and detail, this has now developed to use water jet cutting and laser marking as methods to apply pattern and detail.
