I studied Fine Art at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and then Ceramics at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1986.
My early exhibitions in London (with Contemporary Applied Arts and the Crafts Council) established a reputation for figurative ceramics with a biting political and social satire.
Since 1998, as Senior Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University, my work has developed a more graphic narrative, through a practice-led exploration of the printed image in ceramics.
Recent practice is ‘provoked’ by the political uncertainties of our times, and seeks to question contemporary political, ethical and cultural values.
