Clare Ottaway Chief Study: Printed Textiles 

For inspiration I look at arrangements of manmade objects, papers, fabrics and almost anything patterned. I play games with composition, exploiting the interrelationships and juxtapositions of different patterns. Work then develops through a sparring of ideas consciously retaining a fun, energetic mood with fantastical jewel-like qualities.

My drawings effectively work as 'one-off' solutions but can be adapted to suit 'all-over' textile designs.
